Tips for Ant keeping

Hi guys, Im Aslan Meuris and today, for the change, I will give tips in English. Yup, that’s right. Im gonna give tips in English. Two totally new thing on my website. So, without any further hesitation, I will now give some fresh tips for ANT KEEPING.

Tip# 1: NEVER. KEEP. FIRE. ANTS (as beginner).

Fire ants are a particularly aggressive species of ants. They are very hard to keep and will always try to escape. Believe me, you just need to watch the many, MANY YouTube ant videos to see even experienced ant keepers, (such as Antscanada) have trouble containing their fire ants. Tip# 2: Begin at the right time.

If you would like to keep ants and don’t want them to die after a few months, you should always begin at the right time, which is the Nuptial flighting time. This is when the ant kings and queens fly out to mate. Of course, you can just buy one, but it’s best to catch one right after her nuptial flight so you can watch it start from the beginning.

Tip# 3: Choose the right food.

Ants eat all sorts of thing, from whole animals to small insects. Despite this, you need a well-balanced diet for them to flourish. You have people who feed them CHICKEN FEET (AntsCanada) and people who feed them some insects and some honey. This is my recommended diet for most species:

Protein sources: Superworms, mealworms, crickets, or fruit flies

Sugar: Syrup, honey, or simply water heated and mixed with sugar.

Also, feed them every Six hours, and if you can see mayors and super mayors who have a social stomach role, then check on them to see if the colony is hungry. If they cannot feed the ants, then the colony is hungry

Tip# 4: Location, location, location

It is very important where to put your ants, since they prefer some places more. If you want to start a farm, make sure it is easy to dig into the soil so they can rapidly start the nest. If you leave a part of the ground behind a glass, make sure to cover it up so they can dig in peace. Only occasionally remove the cover to see the digging activities. Another important feature is to place the ant farm on a stable horizontal place that is not in the light for most of the time. Also make sure they have places to hide and some terrain to hide and such.
